It’s been pretty quiet around the blog the past 2 weeks because Brian and I have been exploring Costa Rica. We had an amazing vacation – of course I have to share a few quick highlights….
Our first day we spent near Alajuela – we toured a coffee plantation, some waterfalls and the Poas Volcano. This picture is us at a lagoon near the Poas.
We then travelled north to the Monteverde Cloud Forest… here’s why it’s called a ‘Cloud Forest’
While in Monteverde we learned how to carve rosewood bowls.
Here is a shot of a road in Monteverde – this is an amazing picture because it was one of the few paved roads!
We then continued via taxi-boat-taxi to La Fotuna where we were able to see and hear the active Arenal Volcano. This was probably our favorite location.
The volcano from our hotel:
While near Arenal we did some zip lines – it was pretty scary but definitely a must do!
We also hiked to La Fortuna Waterfall and did some swimming – we’ll just say the water was cool and refreshing 🙂
Here’s a fun obstacle (taken through the windshield) on our way from La Fortuna to the Pacific coast town of Quepos.
Manuel Antonio National Park has beautiful beaches.
Also, while we were in Manuel Antonio we did some Class III and IV white water rafting on the Naranjo River. Thankfully I left my camera on the bus because we all took our turns bailing the raft into the not-so-white-actually-really-brown-river. This was possibly more scary than the zip lines but I’d do it again! Here we all are getting out of the river and loading up.
This is the sunset we enjoyed from the catamaran we sailed on during our last night in Quepos. 100% Photoshop Free – it was seriously this amazing!
I could definitely go on and on about all the little adventures we had but now it’s back to work!
If you’re waiting to hear from me and you haven’t by tomorrow morning shoot me an email – I should be all caught up by then – I’m off to enjoy the perfect Wisconsin weather today!
